I am Lisa Gore, a DC Public School mom and retired public servant with 28 years of service. I am running for the At-Large seat because I believe our policies must center on justice and prioritize our most vulnerable residents.

As a former federal Special Agent in Charge overseeing federal housing investigations, I am uniquely situated to address DC’s top issue: Housing. I’ve advised Congressional staff, Senior Executive Staff, and state and local governments on housing policy and systemic issues that impact housing delivery.

As a mom of a teenage son, I know we must nurture and provide our children with opportunities to develop and thrive. I will work on policies that improve school environmental conditions, modernize our vocational education programs, and support our children’s social, emotional, and mental health needs. I’ll provide strong oversight of affordable housing, specifically public housing where most residents are women and children, and work to stabilize rents and strengthen homeownership opportunities. I will champion economic justice, including supporting Initiative 82, the DC Tip Credit Elimination Act of 2021, and I will fight for environmentally clean communities so our children can play and grow free of environmentally hazardous conditions.

The pandemic has shown us how important women are to our economy, workforce, and families. As a Councilmember, I want to support women and their families by enacting transformative legislation and empowering women to disrupt the systems that create economic, social, health, and political barriers in the first place.

I live in Ward 4 with my husband and son. I’m a graduate of the University of Virginia, and I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Business from the University of Illinois, Gies School of Business. I’m a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and I’ve volunteered serving women and families facing domestic violence.
