Ward 3 Member of the DC Council Candidate
My name is Monte Monash. I am running to be the next Ward 3 Councilmember. I am a native Washingtonian and 20-year resident of American University Park. Ward 3 is where we live, and also home to a diverse setting of small business retailers, restaurants, healthcare services, and education providers. We are a community of neighbors who speak up, help one another and get involved.
Our Ward is changing just like the rest of the city. The issues that resonate include concerns around public safety, transportation, smart growth development, education, aging-in-place, and the environment. We need a savvy, experienced, and determined woman to advocate for Ward 3.
As a small business owner for nearly 15 years, I have always promoted women, worked in partnership with women and mentored young women in the field of engineering and construction. My leadership roles demonstrate a record of building trust to get things done. The Ward will benefit from my ability to listen to stakeholders, build coalitions and understand how our city works.
For 28 years, Ward 3 has had strong women to represent the voice of our community. I am an entrepreneur leading a minority-owned business, and a long-standing volunteer of community-based and city-wide efforts, while raising a family with my husband of 20 years. My intention as a councilmember is to ensure Ward 3 benefits from the city’s growth while preserving the unique characteristics that make our neighborhoods a great place to live and work.
I am proud of my public service and stand ready to serve in a more committed way. My priority will be to emphasize responsive constituent services and to develop policies that address the needs and interests of children and families, seniors, and small business of all types in Ward 3.
