Meet Ward 8 Candidate, Khadijah Clark: Your Advocate, Your Voice, Your Champion (RSVP Now)

Khadijah Clark is a seasoned Ward 8 resident, proud mother of five, foster parent, therapist, veteran, and survivor who has spent over six decades building trust, serving families, and standing up for justice in her community. For 64 years, she has called Ward 8 home, and for just as long, she’s answered the call to serve others with strength, compassion, and unwavering integrity.

From feeding the homeless twice a month with her grandchildren to opening her own home to displaced women and children, Khadijah leads with action, not words. She is the neighbor people call when they’re living with mold, raccoons, or unlivable conditions, like the woman she helped remove from a hazardous Congress Park home when no one else would step in. Her life is a testimony to what grassroots advocacy truly looks like, showing up, doing the work, and never turning your back on those in need.

Khadijah’s resilience is born from personal trials that most could not imagine. She survived childhood abuse at the hands of her brother who was tragically killed by her father, who was in law enforcement, saving her from years of suffering. She carries with her the memory of hearing her dad's final apology before he passed from lung cancer for not seeing the truth for so long. This was a moment that deepened her resolve to live truthfully, fight fiercely, and forgive fully.

Through pain, Khadijah found purpose. She’s turned her trauma into triumph, now writing her forthcoming book Triumph Over Trauma to help other women know that they are not victims, they are survivors and fighters. Her experiences fuel her work as a licensed therapist, where she empowers others to heal and advocates for the mental health resources Ward 8 so desperately needs but still lacks. "Mental health is a gold mine," she says, "but no one is doing the work in Ward 8." Khadijah is committed to changing that.

She is a proud veteran, a community protector, and a passionate believer in public accountability. “If you steal, you should never hold public office,” she states boldly. That’s why she is funding her own campaign, refusing to accept donations from Ward 8 residents. She believes those struggling to make ends meet shouldn’t have to pay for a promise. Her service is not for sale, it’s from the heart.

Khadijah also plans to champion seniors, create healing spaces for women, and ensure housing is safe, livable, and dignified. Her leadership style is rooted in lived experience, professional training, and spiritual clarity. "I only have to prove something to God," she says.

Whether organizing neighborhood resources, parenting through adversity with grace, or preparing to launch senior-focused programming, Khadijah Clark is more than a candidate, she is the embodiment of courage, service, and truth. Ward 8 doesn’t just deserve representation, it deserves a fighter. With Khadijah Clark, that’s exactly what voters will get.
