Message from Candidate Deirdre Brown

As a former Edmund Burke School parent, UDC law student, and 3F04 ANC Commissioner I have spent years in Van Ness. I refuse to believe that this is the “new normal” in this city.  In light of today's shooting incident, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their loved ones.  My own son was in the area when this shooting occurred and had to shelter in place. The worry that I felt today, I know that many of you in the community felt as well.  We all want Ward 3 to be a safe place for ourselves and our loved ones. 

I am calling a community meeting to discuss the April 22, 2022, Van Ness shooting to be held at the Cleveland Park Library on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.  There is an open invitation for Councilmember Mary Cheh, a representative from MPD, and our ANC Commissioners.
