RSVP here for Virtual Town Hall with At-Large DC Council Candidates September 10, 2020 at 6:30pm.

I am Christina Henderson, a dedicated public servant with experience fighting for equitable policies not only here in DC, but also nationwide. A trusted political advisor, I have counseled United States Senators, DC Councilmembers, and state and local education officials on array of domestic policy issues that deeply impact working families and children. And as a new mom, my work has never felt more personal. I am running to serve on the DC Council because I believe we need more leaders who are focused on policies to make DC more equitable and sustainable for us all.

As a Councilmember, I will work to stabilize our childcare market, while improving quality and

bringing down costs for families. I will fight to radically improve our delivery of health care, especially for Black and brown women in DC. I will focus on affordable housing, not just new production but also preservation, helping families who’ve been in DC for generations stay in DC. And I will fight for safe streets for our communities and young people, while ensuring their schools are welcoming environments for learning and success. My life’s work has been guided by the principle that your zip code should not determine your opportunity for success, and as a Councilmember I will fight each and every day to make that a reality.

The global pandemic and ensuing economic fallout underscore DC’s need for leaders who take a commonsense approach to policy making, embrace a collaborative working style, and possess a tireless commitment to equity. That is my kind of leadership.

I am graduate of Furman University and Princeton University, and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. I am also the proud co-founder and board member of the Black Women’s Congressional Alliance. My husband, daughter, and I live in Ward 4.
